Lauren Schwab Eyre is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in journalism and women’s studies from Miami in May 2011 then her Master of Science in family studies in 2013. Lauren is a freelance journalist and is employed on her family’s 1200-sow farrow (birth) to wean swine farm in Somerville, Ohio. She works as the farrowing house manager. The Schwab’s raise around 30,000 pigs each year.
Lauren has written articles for The National FFA Organization, Cincy-Chic Magazine, The Women’s Book and local publications. Her farm story has been featured in Farm World Newspaper and several agricultural publications and radios.
In 2008 she received the Butler County 4-H Reporting Media Award.
Lauren placed first in Ohio for her National FFA job placement project, which involved working on her family’s farm. Lauren was the 2008 Ohio Pork Industry Queen and the Butler County Junior Fair Queen.
Lauren served as a National Collegiate Agriculture Ambassador for the National FFA Organization from 2009 to 2011 presenting workshops to schools and civic organizations. She is an ambassador for the Ohio Pork Producers Council, a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and Ohio Agri Women.
