Tyra Madison Sings of Knowing Your Self-Worth In Three New Releases

By Lauren Schwab Eyre

It can be easy to lose sight of your self-worth in the midst of heartache. Tyra Madison has released three songs to remind you of how valued you are. “Right Girl Wrong Time”, “I Plead The Fifth” and her newest release, “Hurts A Little Less” all share a different way of owning who you are and never losing sight of that despite a relationship ending.

About Tyra

Tyra grew up in a musical family and was influenced by the sounds of Kentucky Bluegrass music. Her sound has evolved to a more pop/rock country to best complement her powerhouse vocals. You can learn more about Tyra and her music here.

“Right Girl Wrong Time”

“Right Girl Wrong Time” is truly captivating in every way. From Tyra’s vocals to the lyrical story-telling, all this is captured in a dramatic ambiance while she plays the grand piano in the music video. Tyra wanted to write a song not only for her friend, but for people to know their self-worth and never settle for less than that. In the music video, “We knew we wanted to have a grand piano, super simple, one set, we played with the lighting to show the different moods throughout the song. Blue can show sadness, pink and purple can be happier. It’s about knowing your worth,” says Tyra.

“Mama always said, the good things take time,
But I can’t wait around for you to realize…
I was the right girl at the wrong time.
If I met you down the road, or maybe in another life,
I wonder how I’d look standin’ by your side.
But I was the right girl, right girl,
At the wrong time.”

“I Plead The Fifth”

Taking a different spin on knowing your worth, Tyra brings out her edgy sound and descriptive story-telling lyrics in “I Plead The Fifth”. As a huge crime junkie girl, she has always wanted to write a song like this. “I came up with the hook, ‘I plead the fifth’, because I watch so many Law and Order shows. I thought there was a cool song around that,” says Tyra. Each lyric of this suspenseful murder ballad leaves you wanting to know what happened, but you’ll never really know because she pleads the fifth…

“One white car in my drive,
Two men in blue underneath my porch light,
Three hard knocks on my door.
Four miles to straighten my story before,
I’m in that chair, silver cuffs on my hands,
And they got some questions bout’ a missing man.
I plead the fifth…”

“Hurts A Little Less”

When you were kind enough to give him a second chance and he breaks up with you again, it hurts a little less the second time around. In “Hurts A Little Less Tyra isn’t surprised when he ends things again after giving him a second chance. “I think a lot of my songs say know your worth and who you are. Be happy and proud of the person God chose for you to be… I think ‘Hurts A Little Less’ does that because there is confidence in the song in that you may have broken my heart, but it hurts a little less this time.” So when you don’t want to respond to your ex, Tyra dares you to just send or tag him this song…

Being Herself

In these three songs, Tyra doesn’t only understand what you’re going through, she empowers you to simply be you. In a town (Nashville) with so many talented female artists, Tyra has learned that being herself is enough. “I think people are always asking, what makes you different? I battle with that myself, there are so many talented people in this town. I’m learning that just being myself is different enough and owning that. Just be yourself, don’t let anyone change you,” says Tyra.
