Queeva is bringing a fresh sound this Spring with her newly released single, “Be So Lucky“. Queeva talked with me about her start in music, how she doesn’t put her sound in a box, and the stories behind her latest song releases. Keep reading for how Queeva sings a story of being heartbroken to becoming so lucky in love through three songs.
Breaking My Heart
“Breaking My Heart” takes the listener on a journey through the battles of a breakup and she wonders if he knew all along he would break her heart. When Queeva went into the studio to record, she decided to sing from her perspective of talking to the guy who broke her heart. She kept the song stripped down and simple with a mellow vibe. The music video paints a picture of her meeting a guy, falling in love, and realizing he likes someone else. Her vocals portray feelings of deception and disappointment.
“I see them red tail lights,
– QUEEVA
Never thought I’d hear you,
Say goodbye,
You left me in the rearview,
Wonder where’s oh I went wrong,
Was I just another girl all along?
Did you know from the start,
That you’d go on breaking my heart?”
Blue
“Blue” is an uptempo song about meeting someone new after heartbreak. The lyrics talk about feeling like there is no one for you, then unexpectedly realizing that there is someone out there who can make you happy. This song follows “Breaking My Heart” perfectly as she sings about having her heart broken, then right out of the blue the right person comes along and takes her heartbreak blues away. This song is full of hope as she gets a new start on love. Queeva says this song serves as a personal reminder that the best things in life come when we least expect them.
“You take me right out of the blue,
– QUEEVA
I guess that’s why I like you,
I never thought that I’d ever get back to,
The girl I was before I knew,
You were gonna save my heart and you,
Would teach me how to restart,
I promise I’ll be good to you,
If you never make me feel blue.”
Be So Lucky
“Be So Lucky” is a song that perfectly describes where Queeva was at in life at the time she wrote it, “I never wrote something that happy. I feel like sometimes even if you are in the happiest relationship it can be easier to write sad songs… ‘Be So Lucky’ was different for me and it captures the feeling of being so happy about the person you’re with and feeling so lucky about it. I was really excited about getting it out and when thinking about what I wanted to release after ‘Blue’ being up-tempo, I wanted to keep that vibe going,” she says.
“I’ll be there for good, bad, and ugly,
– Queeva
And I’ll blame it on the way that you love me,
I don’t know what’s going on above me,
Or what I could’ve done to be so lucky,
How could I,
What did I do
To be so lucky.”
Queeva doesn’t plan to slow down after these songs. With more releases and shows to come in 2024, be sure to follow her @queevamusic on Instagram and stream “Be So Lucky” now on all platforms. To stay in the know of new music I love follow me @farmgirlwithcurls and subscribe.
