Grace Humphries Releases Heartbreaking Tell-All Single “Wanted You To Know”

About Grace

Grace Humphries creates beautiful music that tells stories of love and loss. She is inspired by her personal experiences and what others have gone through. Drawing from the stories of heartbreak in books, movies, and other women’s stories, Grace can craft a song that takes you through all the feelings. Her lyrics are relatable, and her voice is captivating. Grace told me more about her new release, “Wanted You To Know,” and previous single “Good Enough.”

“Wanted You To Know”

Grace’s new release, “Wanted You To Know,” is inspired by the complicated emotions that follow heartbreak, the kind where someone promises forever, then walks away the next day. She started writing it on the guitar and finished it on the piano, giving it a different feel as a ballad-driven song. “I was watching TikTok and these women were talking about their experiences, and I thought it was sad that someone would tell you they are going to marry you and a week later they leave. I also pulled from books and movies to build a fictional story around that and made it my own, so people could relate to it,” said Grace.

“I just want you to know,
I moved on long ago,
not that you care,
but our pictures on the wall are torn,
as the frames lay broken on the floor,
I just want you to know,
I’m happy and alone,
not that you care,
but you don’t deserve my thoughts anymore,
of thinking what I could have done more,
I just wanted you to know.”

“Good Enough”

“Good Enough” is another beautiful tale of heartbreak with positive reflection. Grace sings about when she had a crush on someone, but they fell for someone else. While she struggled with thoughts of not feeling good enough, she came to realize that he was the one who wasn’t good enough for her. She hopes others can relate to this song and also realize they are good enough to not compromise on who they are and not fall victim to comparison. This is a song others can relate to, no matter your age. “I had a crush on a guy. It was the classic guy leads you on and doesn’t like you back situation. I wrote this song about comparing yourself to other girls and then realizing you don’t have to compare. Realizing you are good enough,” said Grace.

“I’m just so glad it wasn’t me,
I’m just so glad you knew you were bad for me,
cause’ for awhile I believed,
that I wasn’t good enough,
but it’s you who wasn’t good enough for me.”

In addition to the love songs she has written, I also love that Grace shares videos of singing worship music at church on her social media, and I asked her about any plans to release Christian music someday. “I love Jesus and I’m so glad He’s given me the opportunity to sing at church. I was baptized in June of last year. I’ve fully given my life to Christ and He’s blessed me with my voice and singing every Sunday. I write some Christian songs, I do hope to one day put out some Christian songs,” shares Grace.

I am so excited for all the music to come from Grace Humphries. You can stream “Wanted You To Know” now on all platforms. Follow her on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
