This year saw a lot of great releases from female country music artists. While it was hard to narrow down my favorites, I’ve picked 25 female artists I will continue to watch, plus their recent releases I love. Their music touches on female empowerment, heartbreak, remaining true to oneself, and embracing who they are meant to be. Now that we are nearing the end of the year, here is part five with more women who have risen in country music and have accomplished big dreams this year (Read part one, part two, part three, and part four here).
CARTER FAITH
Carter Faith got me hooked on her music quick, with a classic sound, nolstalgic vibes and the collection of music she has released in her debut album, Cherry Valley. “My debut album Cherry Valley comes out on October 3rd. I’ve loved living in this little world I made for myself, and I can’t wait to finally invite you in. It’s for everybody. The space between reality and fantasy, love and heartbreak, light and dark. it’s whatever you need it to be. and to celebrate… ‘Sex, Drugs and Country Music’ is out now and is yours,” shares Carter.
Her music videos take you into the story of each song, each with its own unique sound. I love her collab with Billy Bob Thornton in the “Bar Star” music video, the “Arrows” visualizer has a neat vintage film feel, and “Betty” is an upbeat song to sing and dance along to. I’m excited to emerce myself in listening through Cherry Valley and I love how Carter created a little world of music unique to her.
MACKENZIE CARPENTER
Mackenzie Carpenter has been having a great year with the release of her debut album, Hey Country Queen, back in March. “AHHH can’t believe im saying this but my debut album Hey Country Queen is out on March 7th. It’s been a long time coming and can’t wait for y’all to finally hear these songs!!” shared Mackenzie. Her collab with Midland, “I Wish You Would,” took off and is closing in on a million views of the music video on YouTube alone. It has a very classic country sound and takes place in a honky tonk giving Urban Cowboy vibes.
I can’t get enough of her music videos and visualizers for “Country Queen,” “Cowgirl Like Me,” “Gone Fishing,” “Guys Like You,” “The Other Side,” and “Red Wine Blue.” As she wraps up touring, I can’t wait to see all Mackenzie has in store for her music.
TIGIRLILY GOLD
Tigirlily Gold is a duo I’ve been following since the release of their hit single, “I Tried A Ring On.” I love their harmony in both romantic songs like “Thinkin’ Bout That” and fun girl anthems like “Shoot Tequila” and “Girls On Guys.” They have been building momentum since their debut album release last year. “We can’t believe we finally get to say this… Our debut album Blonde will be out July 26th!! Making our first full record was truly one of the most incredible experiences, and we cannot wait for you to hear these songs!!! They say it takes your whole life to write your first album, and these 10 songs reflect both our journeys together as sisters and our individual lives navigating our 20’s. We started this journey together over 11 years ago, but this right here feels like the start of a whole new chapter,” shared Kendra and Krista.
They also have much to celebrate as the year comes to a close with the release of a new single, “Mess Out Of Me,” all about feeling confident and sexy in your own skin and knowing what you want. They also just played their 20th show at The Opry and will be in “A Grand Ole Opry Christmas” on the Hallmark Channel November 29.
HARPER GRACE
Harper Grace has a raw edgy sound that merges genres in a captivating way. She had me in awe of her voice since her release of “Break It Like A Man.” Her latest releases of “Take It To The Grave” and “Under My Skin” show off her creativity and authenticity in her music. “Take It To The Grave” has a fun western vibe in the music video as Harper sings with attitude about being a heartbreaker and taking a man’s heart to the grave. “Under My Skin” has all the wild romantic vibes, both good and bad. While he may not be good for her, she can’t get away from him because she is so drawn to the push and pull romance.
She has been busy touring with Walker Hayes and recently shared how she is involved in a women’s ministry. “Harper Grace ~ our spunky, bold, heartfelt worshiper. Harper led us in worship & prayer the last night of our 30A Florida Retreat and the Holy Spirit was so evident in the room. Once this ministry was formed we were all praying for a name & Harper was the one who came up with ‘Await’ – hopeful, faithful expectation — not just waiting passively, but trusting that God will fulfill His promises in His perfect time. Harper is a singer and song writer & the person who can always make you laugh. She’s a light and she’s an amazing leader. You have incredible gifts Harp. Psalm 33:2–3 (NIV) ‘Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.'” – Await Ministry.
MADDIE & TAE
While I have been following Maddie & Tae’s music for a decade now, I can never get enough of their harmony and honestly throughout their lyrics. From fun girl anthems to songs about love and their children, they never shy from bearing all and being so relatable. Their latest album, Love & Light, shares a range of emotions in the most uplifting way possible. Their song “Drunk Girls In Bathrooms” has such a fun retro sound and is all about having another girls back. The retro and funk vibes continue in the single “Love & Light” as they sing of it being all good after a releatship ends because they are better off, feeling light as a weather without the weight of the drama and knowing karma is real. “Only Jesus” continues the relief in letting a hopeless man go, as they sing of how only Jesus could love them like he doesn’t deserve in this vintage visualizer.
With so many songs that make you feel like Maddie & Tae get you when it comes to falling in love and letting go of men that don’t deserve you, I especially enjoy when they sing about their families. In their latest heartfelt single, “Chasing Babies & Raising Dreams,” they sing about the love they have for their husbands and children. While raising a family can be hard when it comes to the to-do list and paying bills, they got each other and wouldn’t have it any other way. Maddie & Tae have always been open about their marriage and pregnancies. They share about their difficult pregnancies in this podcast and also the reward that came of it.
On a personal note, I am expecting my first baby very soon and will be taking some time off from blogging, but I can’t wait to keep up with all these female artists and will sure be listening to their music throughout my days and nights rocking my newborn.
