That moment when you realize it’s not about you.

“If we could just stop asking the question, ‘what can I get for myself?’ and start asking the question, ‘what can I give from myself?’ I think people would learn you don’t have to be a comedian to deliver a punch line,” Michael Jr.

Living in a world that teaches it’s all about us, can make us loose our real purpose. Our real purpose is to show up in every moment so that we can be of highest service to the world. We should stop asking, how we can get? Then start asking, how can we give?

While public affirmations of a thumbs up on Facebook can raise self-esteem for a brief moment, it does not last. The heart will continually search for more gratification and fulfillment. This true uplifting feeling can only be obtained by lifting other up. To be lifted, we must lift others. To be given to, we must give to others. To be acknowledged, we must acknowledge others. To be praised, we must praise others. To be saved, we must save others and know who saved us. It is not about us, it is about who created us to be of service to Him. I know God created me to be to be of highest service to Him and to the world. Time is short. It is what we do with the time we have been given that will determine the mark we leave on this world. We each have something we can offer this world. Our lives are not meant to wake up, go to work, accumulate materials, pay bills, watch TV, scroll through our Facebook feed and die. Will you glorify God on Earth by completing down to the last detail what you have been assigned to do as it states in John 17:4?

My dad was assigned to be a farmer. While farming is a business, anyone who knows a farmer, knows they do not do it for the money or glory. They do it for their family and to feed the world. Farmers are usually broke more times than they can count. Their livelihood is determined by uncontrollable factors. Farmers farm for the next generation. It is not about them, they bring themselves to each moment they have because they realize their time will soon be up. It is for their children, their children’s children and beyond. Their labor is of love, and for those who choose love will be loved. To be loved you must love others.

While I did not choose to be born the daughter of a farmer, I trust the higher power of God. I take opportunity of this and trust in the timing of my life. I have this gift of writing, so I write this to you. You do not need to obtain fortune or fame. You need to give. Give the gift of yourself to others and experience the miraculous shift that occurs when you realize it’s not about you, it’s about them. It’s about how you can give yourself to the world. “The world needs that special gift that only you have,” Marie Forleo. I choose to give my energy to the earth, it’s animals and to each person who consumes food for energy to give back to the world in their own way. I choose joy because I know when God is present, Joy is present. I believe He is guiding all of us.

“Being in the energy of joy, will have the capacity to shift the energy the world…If in any given moment we infuse that moment with joy, we are of the highest service we can possibly be… This is a time where we are needed and called and every person is a light-worker with a mission… You can have an imprint on this world that so desperately needs you,” Gabrielle Bernstein.

Check out this story of how Adam Braun took a near death experience on a ship traveling overseas and found his true purpose. While traveling as a college student, he met a young boy begging on the streets of India. When Braun asked the boy what he wanted most in the world, he simply answered, “A pencil.” This small request became the inspiration for Pencils of Promise. Giving the gift of a pencil to a child let to giving the gift of education to children around the world.
