With 2024 upon us, I am excited for all the new music to come. In 2023 I listened to many new, but quickly rising female country music artists. You can read more about these artists here:
But when Amanda Kate Ferris came to my county’s Pork Festival, there was something about her music and Texas country style that I fell in love with. Amanda doesn’t steer from being authentic. Her traditional country sound with raw honest lyrics, will have you hooked. She sings about the country life we love and are proud to live. This is why she is at the top of my list of female country artists to watch in 2024.
I’ve been listening to her past releases and loving them all. Her 2023 releases of Pedal Steel EP featuring the single “Tequila & Jesus”, along with her most recent release, “Till The Day I Die” have been my favorites.
“If I don’t like the way the world’s spinning around,
– Amanda Kate Ferris
I kick it on back once the sun goes down,
Find a little peace by the end of the night,
Thanks to King James, salt, and lime,
If I couldn’t send one up, raise one high,
Heaven knows I’d fall to pieces,
If it wasn’t for tequila and Jesus”
“Tequila & Jesus” has a way of making you feel at ease. I love the music video as Amanda walks around the Fort Worth, Texas Stockyards. This is a place I love to go to as well. There is just something about its western feel with Texas country music that makes it a retreat. In this song, Amanda sings about being able to escape the busy world and relax with a tequila drink and the Word. As she sings to the perfect fiddle melody, you too can kick it on back once the sun goes down and find a little peace by the end of the night.
“Tell my mama I know she tried,
– Amanda Kate Ferris
Tell my dog that I’m alright,
Tell all the folks back home,
that a country girl can survive,
I got a little Delta Dawn in me,
Caught that honky tonk disease,
Tell the preacher man I can’t lie,
I’ll be singing these country songs till the day I die.”
“Till The Day I Die” cranks it up a notch. This upbeat melody will have you hitting the honky tonk dance floor as Amanda sings proudly of her country life. This is definitely one to dance to and live it up, be proud of your country roots, and have no regrets. I used this song in my recap video of 2023 –
I can’t wait for more music from Amanda Kate Ferris in 2024. Be sure to follow along on her journey @amandakatemusic and to stay in the know of new music I love follow me @farmgirlwithcurls and subscribe. Happy New Year!
