Alana, Julia & Ella on Repeat – My Female Favorites This Year

By Lauren Schwab Eyre

Three of my favorite female artists have released new music this year and to say I have been listening to them non-stop is the truth. I have to tell you about the talent that has been blasting through my speakers and getting me through the battle between my ears. These ladies get you, and you won’t regret pressing play to any of their songs. Here are their 2023 releases with some of my favorites…

Alana SpringsteenTwenty Something

In her debut album, Twenty Something, Alana takes us through all the emotions in such a captivating way that your mind transports into the song. You feel it all – from heartbreak to letting go, discovering who you are and not being afraid to make mistakes or disappoint others along the way. Even though I am a thirty-something married woman, I still relate to Alana and love her sound. From songs about Taylor Swift being there for us growing up to saying Amen to who we are even if they don’t meet the expectations of others. Each song is different – from upbeat songs to play when you’re going out on the town to the edgy dark guitar sounds of Chris Stapleton, there is a song for everyone on this album.

Songs on repeat: You Don’t Deserve A Country Song, Caught Up To Me, Goodbye Looks Good On You, Chameleon, Hypocrite, Ghost In My Guitar, Cowboys and Tequila, Thinkin’ Straight, Look I Like

Julia ColeCountry Sugar

In her album, Country Sugar, Julia gives you all the feels in a truly honest way. From living the sweet country life to telling a man he should be a better liar because she’s not falling for his lies. Julia’s powerhouse vocals leave me feeling empowered every time I listen. There is a song for every mood – sipping a margarita, falling in love with a country boy, telling the crazy stories of her ex-boyfriend, or being a supernova as she lives life to the fullest. Julia unapologetically sings the truth and is there for every girl to help her feel included, empowered, and understood.

Songs on repeat: Better Liar, Your Love, Whole ‘Mother Margarita, Thank God We Broke Up, Best Worst Ex with Alexandra Kay

Ella LangleyExcuse The Mess

In her EP, Excuse The Mess, Ella is country to the core. She doesn’t put up with anything and bears all in her descriptive lyrics. Her southern accent paired with a true country sound will draw you in. From being authentically her in a relationship to being fueled by the passion when fighting with her man – Ella brings an alternative take to country music storytelling. Her music is relatable, you don’t have to be perfect and you don’t have to suck it up. Ella’s music makes you feel like you can let go of all the pressures and just be you. It’s okay to remember the past, not have it all together, and take it one day at a time. So when your life feels messy and all too much, press play to Ella’s EP and feel the stress leave.

Songs on repeat: Excuse The Mess, Could’ve Been Her, That’s Why We Fight, Where You Left It, Don’t We All, Damn You

These three women got a song for what you’re going through. For when you need a pick-me-up or a slow-down, you can’t go wrong with pressing play to Alana, Julia or Ella.
