Do you ever look at animals and wish you could swap to do lists for the day?
I enjoy watching the animals, they are so free and full of life with not care or worry in the world. They live each day with no one to answer to, sense of regret, fear of failure, disappointment, disagreements or intention to meet an ideal to please others. They just be. It can be easy to get caught up in the busyness of the day. Constantly going over your to do list and plugged in to your computer and smart phone. Mental exhaustion can weigh just as heavily if not more than physical. Perhaps if we were living for ourselves in nature and could rest under a shade tree when ever our minds and bodies desired, we would be at peace.
As a little girl, I would often wonder back through the fields and into our wood where the cattle lay. I would lay in the soft grass under and old tree’s branches and just stare at the sky. I would sing and pray and just be. Why don’t I do that now? I never thought then I would spend so much time on a computer or phone. Never thought about the demands life would bring as an adult. Never thought about the stresses of relationships, college, career, finances and retirement. Our society has created this bubble and busy lives we lead today. Thoughts of just leaving it all to homestead would never cross many minds today. Even that brings its trials and despair.
Continuing to search for happiness can often be endless if we place it our money, materials, career and even in our loved ones. We will always be left with disappointment because these are earthly things and humans are imperfect. Our happiness and peace can only be placed in God alone who is perfect. Remember He created us in His image and there will be a place we can all someday live as animals do. We will live free and full of life with not care or worry in the world. We will live each day with no one to answer to, sense of regret, fear of failure, disappointment, disagreements or intention to meet an ideal to please others. Even better there will no sadness nor pain, we can just be. We will be in heaven with Him if we so choose to believe His Son came to this imperfect earth and died for us.
Until then I will tend to my animals and they will serve as a constant reminder to live life full and as if God is my whole world because to my piglets and kitties, I am theirs.
Here are some captures of life for my piglets and cats:
