Heaven is Close in the Country

By Lauren Schwab

Driving through the country can put all the chaos of my day at peace, even if for a short while, I am lost in the wonder of the earth and endless pavement available to me. I have yet to explore this vast country, but just where I am in my corner of southern Ohio, I can drive to my desires. Of course, real life and the farm always call me home, but there is just something about driving down a hilly or curvy country road surrounded by trees that captivates my heart and puts me in wonder of the beautiful earth God created. I am amazed by the nature and peacefulness this world can offer in the midst of chaos and heartache. I do believe Heaven is close and this earth is just a preview of what God can create and is a gift to us while we are here. I have enjoyed listening to this song by A Thousand Horses on my drives. I feel blessed to live in the country and experience this. I don’t have to drive out of the city to find peacefulness. I can walk behind my barnyard or drive through the woods. I encourage you to get into nature or go for a drive in the country or wilderness and just think. Think about the peace, think about your dreams, think about your life calling and appreciate each day here on earth. Here is part of my country drive:
