Seeing Avril Lavigne’s concert in Detroit last September was like reliving my teenage rock years. I will always love her punk rock princess attitude. Avril uses hardship in her life to stay strong, keep fighting for her life and inspire others. Her 2019 album Head Above Water features both impactful ballads and fun melodies for the inner Avril in us all. Her battle with Lyme disease led her to write songs about fighting for her life. In the closing track “Warrior” she sings, “‘Cause I’m a warrior, I fight for my life like a soldier, all through the night. And I won’t give up, I will survive, I’m a warrior. And I’m stronger, that’s why I’m alive, I will conquer, time after time. I’ll never falter, I will survive, I’m a warrior.”

Now Avril wants to give back to the everyday warriors fighting to save lives from COVID-19. She went to her home studio to record a remix “We Are Warriors” paying tribute to the hard workers putting their own lives at risk during this time. The heartwarming music video features photos and video of nurses working in hospitals along with her warrior fans coming together to support one another.

With the cancellation of her tour Avril wants to give back, “I wanted to get involved and contribute so I got to work in the studio and I want to dedicate this to all of you. I re-recorded ‘Warrior’ to reflect our current world and all the amazing heroic things you’re all doing. To all the hospital workers, postal service people, grocery store workers, police and firemen, every single one of you who has had their world shaken. This is for you.”

Avril’s social media posts have brought people together from around the world. “Ever since our world was turned upside down a few weeks ago I’ve seen everyday people put on their armor and go into battle. Simple tasks like delivering mail has become a heroic effort. ⁣Overnight everyone was asked to battle. ⁣Overnight everyone became Warriors,” she shares with followers.  ⁣

Avril writes this heartfelt letter:
